Garter snakes are found throughout North America, from Canada to Central America.
Garter snakes are carnivorous and primarily feed on small prey such as insects, amphibians, fish, small mammals, and sometimes other snakes.
Garter snakes are generally not aggressive and will try to flee rather than confront threats. When threatened, they may release a foul-smelling.
Garter snakes are ovoviviparous, which means the females give birth to live young.
